Telli

Telli is considered one of the most cherished forms of embroidery in the UAE. It is made of hand braided metallic and silk threads that was traditionally used to adorn women's clothing. It is made on a tool called a “Kajojah” which is a cushion held on a metal base used to hold the thread in place. In the past, real silver was used to make Telli, however, today a metallic thread is used instead. Telli is still used today to decorate women’s clothing and is incorporated in other daily items.
